Suspension Mounts

Suspension Mounts
Whether you have A/B/C/D mounts or FF/FR/RF/RR mounts, this article will help you understand how they change your suspension geometry.

These are the mounts where the suspension arms attach to the chassis and are known by various names depending on the manufacturer, such as:

‍

Front arms, mount at front of arm

  • A mount
  • Front-front (FF)
  • Front outer

Front arms, mount at rear of arm

  • B mount
  • Front-rear (FR)
  • Front inner

Rear arms, mount at front of arm

  • C mount
  • Rear-front (RF)
  • Rear inner

Rear arms, mount at rear of arm

  • D mount
  • Rear-rear (RR)
  • Rear outer

Different cars allow different adjustments to these mounts, but these are the possibilities:

A/B or FF/RF

  • Move mounts out to increase track width
  • Move mounts up to increase roll center
  • Move front mounts up or rear mounts down to increase kick-up
  • Move front mounts in or rear mounts out to increase sweep / toe-in

C/D or RF/RR

  • Move mounts out to increase track width
  • Move mounts up to increase roll center
  • Move front mounts up or rear mounts down to increase anti-squat
  • Move front mounts in or rear mounts out to increase toe-in (which will also shorten the wheelbase)
