RC Setup App gets AI Smarts

A couple of years ago we launched the RC Gear Recommender to help people pick a pinion gear for their specific car and racing conditions. A year or so later, we evolved it into RC AI Mechanic, which allowed racers to ask all sorts of questions about RC cars and setups, and to get live troubleshooting help and recommendations at the track.

However, the RC AI Mechanic has one major drawback: in order to get specific answers and setup recommendations, you first have to give it details about your setup, which can be a hassle, especially if you're tight on time between races.

Today, we fix that.

Our RC Setup App now has AI built-in, and because it already knows your setup details, you can ask specific questions and get specific answers. You can ask things like...

• Is my setup suitable for bumpy astro? 
• What changes should I make to my setup to get more mid-corner steering on clay?
• What settings look out of place for my track?
• What springs do other racers use on medium-grip asphalt?

To try it out, open the RC Setup App, go to one of your setups, and look for the assistant button at the bottom right. Once you get in, Arcy (the mechanic) will already know:

• Basic details about your car (body style, RWD/FWD/4WD, internal ratio, etc.)
• Your car's default (kit) settings
• The settings in your current setup (toe, camber, tires, even track type and grip level)
• For cars with publicly-shared setups, it will know common values used by other drivers

Pro tip: to get specific answers, ask about "my setup", like "how should I change my setup for low-grip?" or "How to get more corner-entry steering with my setup?" This will encourage Arcy to check your setup before giving an answer.

Best of all, members who have upgraded to Sportsman get unlimited questions and answers! All other members get some test questions, so you can try it and see if it's helpful before upgrading.

Please note: 

• AI gets smarter every day, but it is not perfect, and it will occasionally "hallucinate" answers, so please test all recommendations before the mains if possible, and if it gives bogus answers, let us know, so we can keep training Arcy to be even smarter.
• The AI will give the best answers for the most common car classes like off-road 1/10 or 1/8-scale, 1/10 touring, 1/12 pan, and oval, but we are constantly tuning it for the other classes as well, and it will get better over time.
