Some RC car electronic speed controllers offer a boost ramp or throttle ramp setting. Boost ramp sets how quickly the boost ramps up once you hit the boost start rpm. It will stop increasing once you hit the max boost aka timing setting.
Some other controllers ramp up the boost linearly between the boost start rpm and the boost end rpm instead. The end result can be the same, they are just set in different ways.
