On an RC car, the steering block is the part that connects to the steering link and uses the force from the steering link to turn the car. The steering block has a protrusion called the steering arm or steering plate to which the steering link is connected. The connection point between the steering link and the steering block can be moved forward or backward to adjust the car's Ackermann angle, or up and down to change bump steer.
Steering blocks are sometimes also used to adjust a car's trail, either by using optional blocks or inserts within the block that hold the axle bearings.
