Kyosho’s FAZER Mk2 is a 1/10-scale, shaft-drive 4WD readyset platform — its licensed-body touring/muscle-car line, alongside the smaller Mini-Z family. Until now this site has only carried FAZER manual, parts, and exploded-view PDFs; this is our first real FAZER article. Two brand-new sub-lines make 2026 the moment to cover it: the FZ02-R rally chassis and a completely redesigned FAZER D2 drift platform, alongside the existing FZ02 touring chassis, FZ02L long-wheelbase muscle cars, and the brushless VE editions.
FAZER Mk2 FZ02: the touring chassis
FZ02 is the standard-wheelbase, shaft-drive 4WD chassis, sold as a readyset and, for racers, as a bare FAZER Mk2 FZ02 Chassis Kit (No.34461C) — 40%-pre-assembled, with dampers and diff gears shipped ungreased so you can set them up yourself. It ships with option-grade hardware as standard: an HD TC Center Shaft S (FAW209B) machined from duralumin in place of the readyset’s resin part, a TC Universal Swing Shaft S (FAW202B) to stop the front dogbone dropping out in a crash, a resin stay for a race timing transponder, and a motor plate combining cooling with dust protection — plus semi-slick low-profile tires with inner sponge (FAT701M) and black 15-spoke wheels (VZH003BKB). No radio gear, body, motor, ESC, or servo is included; see the option-parts table below for the FAW-series hop-ups that fit it.
FAZER Mk2 FZ02L: long-wheelbase muscle cars
FZ02L stretches the platform to a longer wheelbase for full-size American muscle cars and pickups — readysets run 387mm long, 274mm wheelbase, 190mm wide. Current bodies: the 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 (No.34437T1), a homologation racing special (859 units of the real car built) with a 375-horsepower, 429-cubic-inch (7.0L) V8 and “BOSS 429” fender logos faithfully reproduced; and the 1966 Chevrolet C10 Fleetside Pickup in Light Green (No.34435T1), built to Fleetside spec (bed width matches body width).
Both use Kyosho’s Ultra Scale Body Plus clipless mounting system, the headline FZ02L upgrade: body-fixing posts and pins hide internally (a “stealth” mount), and the doors open and close by hand. Standard Ultra Scale Body on other shells uses a conventional external post-and-pin mount instead — same reproduction, just without opening doors. Brake discs (with dummy calipers) come in two offset variants to fit both 190mm and 200mm wheelbase widths. Electronics: a 2.4GHz SyncRo KT-231IP+ transmitter, a KYOSHO SPEED HOUSE KA060-91W ESC (60A, waterproof, Super Plug connector), and a 550-size 14-turn brushed motor, the G14L, with a steel ring for added torque.
FAZER Mk2 VE: brushless editions
VE is the brushless upgrade path for FZ02/FZ02L: the same chassis with a new-generation ESC and a large brushless motor in place of the G14L, plus a Kyosho-original supercharger on the body. Readysets run the FZ02L chassis (274mm wheelbase, 200mm width) with a standard aluminum center shaft to resist twisting under high-rpm drive. Bodies: the 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Supercharger Spec VE in Dark Blue (No.34494T1) and the 1970 Dodge Charger Supercharger Spec VE in Gray (No.34492T1C) — the Charger adds concealed headlights with an opening mechanism (needs a separately-sold micro servo) and a supercharger operable through a third radio channel. Power is a sealed-case TORX 10E brushless motor paired with a BRAINZ 10 V2 ESC, a Kyosho Speed House unit for brushless motors with a cooling fan, waterproofing, and per-application programmability.
FAZER Mk2 FZ02-R: the new rally chassis
FZ02-R is one of two brand-new 2026 sub-lines: a shaft-drive 4WD rally chassis for on-road and off-road driving. Readysets run a 260mm wheelbase and 200mm width, with a standard chassis cover keeping dust and sand off the R/C electronics. Launch bodies: the 1971 Datsun 240Z Rally (No.34482T1), a car with real Safari Rally history behind it, and the Subaru Impreza WRC 2002 (No.34481T1), reproducing the car’s six-star livery with Ultra Scale-exclusive body accessory parts, pre-painted, decaled, and assembled. Underneath, FZ02-R runs its own off-road-tuned hardware rather than reused FZ02 parts: damper stays for extra ground clearance and suspension travel, big-bore oil dampers with rally-specific springs, a front bumper with a “skid angle” that cuts contact resistance on rough surfaces and suppresses pitch on jump landings, and rally-designed steering hub arms/tie rods that reduce bump steer, with an adjustable Ackermann ratio for milder steering. Electronics match the range: the SyncRo KT-231IP+ transmitter.
FAZER D2: the new drift chassis
FAZER D2 is the other new 2026 line, and the bigger departure: a completely newly designed RWD chassis (FZD2/FZD2L) built specifically for drift, distinct from the shaft-drive 4WD used elsewhere in the range. The chassis ships with gyro and R/C unit pre-installed and a synchro receiver fitted. A newly developed KRG-331D receiver has a drift-tuned gyro built in, with a steering-position/grip control that sets rear-tire grip; a new KS4072-06W servo carries its own built-in gyro, part of Kyosho’s Stability System (KSS), paired with an ESC optimized for the drift unit. The front end uses a long-span double-wishbone suspension for extra steering angle with adjustable center/caster geometry, and like FZ02L’s Body Plus bodies, the readyset uses a stealth-type body mount with internal posts and pins. The battery holder fits both Kyosho and most third-party battery packs.
Three readysets launch the line: the Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86 in white (No.34501T1, FZD2 chassis, doors that hand-open on its Body Plus shell), the 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro (No.34531T1, longer FZD2L chassis, wide overfenders and pickup-bed graphics), and the Toyota 86 GT Tuned in Lightning Red (No.34502T1, FZD2 chassis, carbon hood and rear spoiler). A bare FAZER D2 Chassis Kit (No.34551, motor sold separately) is also available: a resin main chassis, front/rear split, adjustable 240–273mm wheelbase (no glue required), aluminum oil dampers standard front and rear with a dial-type spring adjuster, a double-wishbone rear end with a rigid carbon upper link arm and adjustable camber, and a traction crank pin plus gear diff as the standard drivetrain, upgradable to a universal shaft, gear diff, or ball diff. Aluminum/carbon hop-up parts (the FAW3xx series) are sold separately for it.
