In the 1/10 2WD buggy class, racers gear by final drive ratio: 6T and below near 9.40, 7.5–8.5T near 9.22, 17.5T near 6.48. On the 22 4.0's stock 78T spur that is about 20T for 6T and below, 21T for 7.5–8.5T, 29T for 17.5T. Tight tracks gear down, open tracks gear up. The 22 4.0 has an internal ratio of 2.43:1. Final drive ratio = spur ÷ pinion × 2.43. With the stock 78T spur, a 18T pinion gives an FDR of 10.53 and a 32T gives 5.92.

Out of the box the 22 4.0 runs 32.5 wt front, 32.5 wt rear (Team Losi oil), on 2 x 1.6mm (#233009) front, 2 x 1.7mm (#233010) rear pistons. That is the kit setup; you will need to adjust it for your track conditions. The RC Setup App can help dial it in.
The kit springs are LF Silver (#233046) - lightest LF front, LF White (#233056) rear. Stiffer springs suit high grip and big jumps; softer springs add grip on slick or bumpy tracks.
