In the 1/10 2WD short course truck class, racers gear by final drive ratio: 7.5–8.5T near 10.14, 13.5T near 8.94. On the Slash 2WD's stock 86T spur that is about 23T for 7.5–8.5T, 26T for 13.5T. Tight tracks gear down, open tracks gear up. For a starting pinion matched to your motor, use the So Dialed Pinion Recommender with the Slash 2WD selected.
The Slash 2WD has an internal ratio of 2.72:1. Final drive ratio = spur ÷ pinion × 2.72. With the stock 86T spur, a 15T pinion gives an FDR of 15.59 and a 30T gives 7.80.

Out of the box the Slash 2WD runs 50 wt front, 60 wt rear (Traxxas oil), on 2-hole front, 2-hole rear pistons. That is the kit setup; you will need to adjust it for your track conditions. The RC Setup App can help dial it in.
The kit springs are Kit (#TRA2458) front, Kit (#TRA3757) rear. Stiffer springs suit high grip and big jumps; softer springs add grip on slick or bumpy tracks.
